A 34-year-old man named Yostin Andres Mosquera has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder following a disturbing incident at Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England. The Metropolitan Police in London confirmed the arrest on Monday.

The arrest came after the discovery of human remains inside suitcases left at the historic Clifton Suspension Bridge last week. The man, Mosquera, was apprehended in Bristol early on Saturday following the unsettling find.

The unsettling event unfolded when authorities in Avon and Somerset responded to reports of a man behaving suspiciously with a suitcase near the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The man disappeared before the police arrived, leaving the suitcase behind. Another suitcase containing human remains was found nearby shortly after.

Further investigation led to the discovery of additional human remains at a residence in the Shepherds Bush neighborhood of London. The identified victims are two men, Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71. Mr. Longworth was British, while Mr. Alfonso, a French national, had acquired British citizenship.

The police disclosed that the victims were in a relationship and shared a home in Shepherd’s Bush. Mosquera, the arrested individual, had a brief stay at their residence, indicating a prior acquaintance.

Although the motive behind the murders remains unclear, the authorities stated that there is no evidence suggesting a homophobic motive. Following standard protocols, the case is being treated as a hate crime investigation for the time being.

Addressing concerns within the Shepherds Bush community and the broader L.G.B.T.Q.+ community in London, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine emphasized that there is no ongoing search for additional suspects at this stage of the investigation.

Mosquera is scheduled to appear in Wimbledon Magistrate’s Court for a custody hearing on Monday as the investigation continues.
