NATO denounces China’s backing of Russia in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, raising concerns and tensions within the international community.
NATO Accuses China of Enabling Russia’s Attacks on Ukraine
For the first time, NATO has joined Washington in condemning China’s military support for Russia, accusing Beijing of facilitating Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The military alliance issued a declaration urging China to cease providing “weapons components” and other crucial technology for the Russian military’s rearmament.
The declaration emphasized that China’s involvement in the war would have negative consequences for its interests and reputation, particularly highlighting China’s extensive backing of Russia’s defense industry. While specific repercussions were not outlined, potential measures could include economic sanctions restricting China’s access to global markets. NATO also pointed fingers at China for engaging in “malicious cyber- and hybrid activities, including disinformation” targeting Europe and the United States.
