Riot Games, known for games like League of Legends, Valorant, announced that they have canceled a new project they have been developing lately. According to the emerging information, the project named ‘Pool Party’, which was planned to be a fighting game in the style of Super Smash Bros, has been shelved.
Riot Games Focusing on Fighting Games
According to journalist Mikhail Klimentov’s claims, Riot Games, which was planning to offer players a platform-style fighting game, was working on a game set in the League of Legends universe. However, the company’s executives thought they would not be successful in competing with a popular game like Smash Bros, so the project was canceled.
It is stated that the cancellation of the project was also influenced by the game ‘MultiVersus’ offered for free by Warner Bros. It is known that the Pool Party project, initially designed as a hardcore fighting game, was being developed to include party game elements before being canceled.
New Projects and Future Plans
Riot Games announced that the ‘Project L’ fighting game based on League of Legends, which they announced in February, is now named ‘2XKO’. It is stated that this game will be released in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
