Sarika Pawar’s Journey to Empowerment

Before the unfortunate passing of her husband, Sarika Pawar’s life was confined to her rural village in India, where she dedicated her days to caring for her young daughter and managing household tasks. The sudden loss of her husband, who was the primary breadwinner as a server, propelled Sarika into the workforce to support her family.

She found employment at a local factory operated by All Time Plastics in Silvassa, a city located approximately 100 miles north of Mumbai. Over the past twelve years, Sarika has been diligently working at the factory, handling newly molded household products like food storage containers, labeling them, and preparing them for shipment to various destinations worldwide, including cities like Los Angeles and London.

Despite earning a modest monthly income of around 12,000 rupees (approximately $150), Sarika’s job has significantly improved her and her daughter’s quality of life. With her earnings, she was able to enroll her daughter in high school, a feat she once thought unattainable. Additionally, the financial stability allowed Sarika to make essential purchases, such as a refrigerator, which simplified her daily chores and empowered her to buy groceries in bulk, reducing her trips to the market and enabling her to negotiate better prices.

Furthermore, Sarika invested in a propane-powered stove, liberating her from the smoke-filled environment created by cooking over a wood fire. This upgrade not only enhanced the air quality in her home but also saved her time previously spent collecting firewood.

Through her persistence and dedication at the All Time Plastics factory, Sarika Pawar has not only secured a source of income but has also transformed her and her daughter’s lives, showcasing the resilience and strength of women in overcoming adversity.
