Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken recently stated that Israel has “effectively lost sovereignty” in its northern region due to ongoing Hezbollah attacks originating from southern Lebanon. Diplomatic Efforts to Defuse Tensions

In an effort to de-escalate the border tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, a senior White House official, Amos Hochstein, will be engaging in discussions in Paris. Hochstein, who oversees global energy and infrastructure matters, has taken on the role of President Biden’s unofficial envoy in seeking to resolve the border dispute.
