President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has filed a lawsuit against Fox News, alleging that the network violated the law by broadcasting explicit photos and videos of him without his consent. The lawsuit specifically targets a mini-series titled “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” which aired on Fox Nation in 2022. The program depicted a fictionalized criminal trial of Mr. Biden, incorporating real-life images of him in compromising situations that were found on a laptop abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware.

The legal action, filed in New York Supreme Court, accuses Fox of breaching New York State’s revenge porn law, which prohibits the dissemination of sexually explicit content without permission. According to the lawsuit, Fox’s actions were intended to embarrass and defame Mr. Biden, damaging his reputation.

In response, a Fox News spokesperson dismissed the lawsuit as politically motivated and lacking in merit. The network asserted its First Amendment rights to report on newsworthy events involving Hunter Biden, who has faced various legal issues, including recent convictions for firearm-related offenses and pending tax evasion charges.

Fox removed “The Trial of Hunter Biden” from its platform after receiving a demand from Mr. Biden’s legal team. The network emphasized that the decision was made out of caution and noted that the charges portrayed in the mini-series were fictional and not based on actual legal proceedings against Mr. Biden.

Mr. Biden’s lawyers seek compensatory and punitive damages in the lawsuit, along with an injunction requiring Fox to delete any copies of the explicit images from its systems. This legal action comes after Fox settled a defamation suit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million over claims of promoting unfounded election fraud allegations in the 2020 presidential election.
