The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake appears as a project that has been restarted for the second time. The layoffs following a turbulent development process sadden fans and those waiting for the game.
According to a new article published by PC Gamer, the Ubisoft Toronto team is downsizing due to restructuring. This team is known as the studio behind Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, and the upcoming remake of Splinter Cell.
PoP: The Sands of Time remake was first announced in September 2020. The remake had been in development for two and a half years at the Indian studios Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, with a planned release in January 2021. However, due to the negative reactions to the game’s trailer, it was delayed several times, and last year it was announced that Ubisoft Montreal, the studio that created the original Sands of Time in 2003, took over the development.
