The cryptocurrency market is currently showing a high level of pessimism regarding the upcoming launch of spot ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States. Steno Research released a report indicating that the market sentiment may not reflect the true potential of these ETFs, projecting net inflows of up to $20 billion in the first year. Senior analyst Mads Eberhardt emphasized that despite potential outflows from the Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE), the anticipated influx of funds could significantly drive up the value of ether.

The report forecasts that the launch of spot ether ETFs could lead to a minimum price target of $6,500 for ether by the end of the year. This bullish outlook is based on the expected significant investments in spot ETFs along with other positive market conditions.

Spot ether ETFs are nearing their debut in the U.S. after receiving approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the necessary filings. It is anticipated that trading of these new products could commence as early as next week following the approval of the S-1 filings.

Steno Research predicts that if the estimated net inflows into spot ether ETFs materialize, the ether/bitcoin ratio could strengthen to 0.065 by the end of the year. The report highlights that due to its lower market capitalization and liquidity compared to bitcoin, ether is likely to experience a more pronounced impact from inflows into ETFs, potentially surpassing expectations.

While some analysts have provided varying estimates, Steno Research appears to be more optimistic about the potential of spot ether ETFs. Galaxy Research projected $5 billion in net inflows for the first five months, while Bitwise Asset Management anticipated $15 billion within the first 18 months.
