Another new application has been added to Google’s graveyard: Stack! The PDF scanner application called Stack allows you to easily scan documents and convert them to PDF format. It also offers the possibility to organize your documents in different categories.

Google has decided to end support for its old PDF scanner application. As of September 23, 2024, support for this application will cease. Google states that the reason behind this decision is that many features of the application have been integrated into Google Drive.

If you are using the Stack application to edit PDFs, Google has developed a tool for you to transfer your documents from Stack to Google Drive. You can access the section Account > Settings > Transfer all documents to Drive for document transfer from Stack to Google Drive. The transferred documents will appear in a green folder titled “Stack” in your Google Drive. Additionally, after opening any document, you will be able to export your documents externally by clicking the Share button.

The Stack application, launched in 2021, was developed by Google’s development center Area 120 and Google Cloud’s DocAI team as an experimental application for Android. The application could automatically name a document after taking photos of documents, suggest which category it should belong to, detect important information in the documents, and automatically save the documents to Google Drive.

Just like Google announced pulling the plug on the Podcast application, Stack has also taken its place among the discontinued Google applications. Google recommended its users to listen to podcasts via YouTube Music.
