State Street Global Advisors and Galaxy Asset Management Collaboration

State Street Global Advisors and Galaxy Asset Management have joined forces to create innovative crypto investment products. They aim to provide exposure to crypto companies and offer spot and futures-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

SSGA Active Trust Fund Application

State Street Global Advisors, a unit of financial services giant State Street (STT), has filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the registration of the SSGA Active Trust. This crypto-based fund will be managed by Galaxy, an affiliate of Galaxy Digital (GLXY), a leading financial services company specializing in digital assets.

Access to the Digital Asset Ecosystem

By collaborating, State Street Global Advisors and Galaxy aim to offer investors access to the $2.4 trillion digital asset ecosystem through manager-directed strategies. They recognize the increasing demand for investment options beyond pure spot bitcoin in the cryptocurrency industry.

Statement from State Street Global Advisors

Anna Paglia, Chief Business Officer at State Street Global Advisors, highlighted the importance of understanding the broader digital assets landscape. She emphasized that crypto-native companies are best positioned to navigate this ecosystem and its correlation with financial markets.

Growing Popularity of Crypto as an Asset Class

The partnership between State Street and Galaxy underscores the rising popularity of crypto as a viable asset class. Galaxy Digital previously established a similar collaboration with DWS in April 2023 to develop crypto management solutions for Europe.

Expert Opinion

Laurent Kssis, a crypto ETF specialist at CEC Capital, noted that State Street Bank and Trust are expected to provide administrative and accounting services for the new digital assets ETFs resulting from the collaboration.
