ONE Championship’s Debut Tournament in Qatar
Combat sports fans in the Middle East witnessed an historic event as the One Championship group held its debut tournament in Qatar. Qatar 365 team had front-row seats at the action-packed fight night at the Lusail Sports Arena. International fighters like undefeated MMA champion Anatoly Malykhin showcased their skills, treating fans to a world-class show. The event also featured champions from the MENA region, such as Iranian heavyweight Amir Aliakbari, considered a top contender to bring a gold belt to the Middle East.
Values of Martial Arts in ONE Championship
ONE Championship founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong emphasized the importance of martial arts values in his fighters. He highlighted values such as respect, humility, resilience, integrity, courage, discipline, and a warrior spirit. Sityodtong believes that beyond the misconception of violence, martial arts provide a platform to unleash human potential.
Professional Fighters League and Rising Stars
Another prominent MMA group, the Professional Fighters League, is making waves in the Middle East. Up-and-coming PFL fighters, including Biaggio Ali Walsh, grandson of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, are carving their paths in combat sports. Despite the pressure of his grandfather’s legacy, Biaggio remains determined, stating that “pressure makes diamonds” and embracing the challenges in his career.
Laila Humairah also met with Hattan Saif, the first Saudi woman to sign with an international MMA league. Hattan, part of PFL’s Middle East and North Africa roster, aims to inspire and empower other girls to break through societal barriers. At 22 years old, she considers it her duty to pave the way for more women in combat sports.
