The Cardano blockchain encountered a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack late on Tuesday, aimed at pilfering staked tokens on the network. Fortunately, the attack was thwarted before any harm was done, allowing the network to maintain normal functionality.

DDoS attacks are a prevalent form of cyber aggression where the attacker inundates a server or blockchain with excessive traffic to impede user access to online services and platforms.

According to Fluid Token’s chief technology officer, @ElRaulito_cnft, the attack commenced at block 10,487,530, with each transaction executing 194 smart contracts. The attacker spent 0.9 ADA per transaction and flooded each block with numerous transactions in an effort to strain the network.

Philip Disarro, the founder of Cardano development firm Anastasia, stated that the DDoS attack was swiftly halted by deregistering the stake credential employed by the attacker. Post Disarro’s intervention, the attack was promptly ceased.

“The DDOSer terminated the attack upon reading my tweet to safeguard their funds. However, it was too late, and the draining of their funds had already commenced,” he remarked.

Following the incident, ADA observed a 0.4% increase in the last 24 hours, trading at 38 cents during the Asian morning hours.
