Israeli’s Strategy in Gaza

The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike on Rafah yesterday was evident, highlighting the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed that the intensive phase of Israel’s war against Hamas “is about to end,” indicating a potential shift in the conflict dynamics. However, he clarified that this did not mean the conflict was over.

In a recent interview on Israeli television, Netanyahu hinted at a possible transition in the war, suggesting a new phase could be on the horizon. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also alluded to discussions with Biden administration officials regarding a shift to ‘Phase C’ in Gaza, hinting at a strategic evolution in the conflict.

Future Plans for Gaza

Last October, Gallant outlined a comprehensive battle plan involving intense airstrikes, ground operations, and the establishment of a new security framework for Israeli citizens by dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities in Gaza. While no concrete plan for governing Gaza post-Hamas has been proposed, Netanyahu hinted at the involvement of local Palestinians, potentially with support from moderate Arab nations. Security control by the Israeli military would likely be maintained in the enclave.

West Bank: Recent events have also stirred controversy in the West Bank, with an influential Israeli official hinting at stealth efforts to solidify control in the occupied area. Additionally, a video circulating online showed Israeli troops tying a wounded Palestinian to a military vehicle, sparking widespread outrage and prompting an investigation by Israel’s military.
