Meet Your New Work Friend: Anna
Hi, I’m Anna, and as of today, I’m your new work friend, stepping into the role previously held by the remarkable Roxane Gay. Roxane has been a beacon of insight and compassion for New York Times readers, and I aim to continue her legacy while bringing my unique perspective to the table. With size 11½ shoes to fill, I’m ready for the challenge!
About Me
A little about me: I’m a writer and editor who navigates the worlds of words and management with equal passion. From being managed by bosses to managing employees, I’ve experienced the full spectrum of workplace dynamics. Currently, I’m working on a book for Crown Publishers focusing on women, power, and communication. My journey includes founding Jezebel in my early 30s, a career milestone that reshaped my professional trajectory in unforeseen ways.
Having observed the evolution of American work culture from the late 20th century to the present day, I’m intrigued by how the landscape has shifted, especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The expectations of younger generations for transparency and accountability in the workplace signal a significant change in traditional norms.
Bringing Expertise and Perspective
My experience extends to offering advice on work-related dilemmas, as seen in my previous role writing the “Sad Desk Salad” column for Bloomberg Businessweek. I’m thrilled to share my strong opinions and professional insights with Work Friend readers, occasionally seeking input from experts to shed light on complex issues and broaden our collective understanding.
