New Updates and Expansion Announcement for Starfield

At the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, Bethesda Game Studios announced that the eagerly awaited new free update for Starfield has been released as of this evening! The event also revealed that the much-anticipated story expansion Shattered Space will be released on September 30, 2024.

August Update

The free August Update adds the REV-8 ground vehicle to the game, offering players a new experience. With the REV-8, players can make new discoveries with their own vehicles and access hard-to-reach areas. This impressive vehicle is equipped with a powerful turret, armor that provides extra protection while driving, a space for a companion, and boosters for quick movement or escape from dangers. Additionally, players can gain altitude and glide to hard-to-reach places using these boosters while driving.

To use the REV-8, players will need to visit a Ship Service Technician to add the vehicle module. Once the module is added to the preferred ship, the REV-8 will automatically deploy outside the ship when players land.

Along with the August Update, new Xbox Series S visual settings reflecting Xbox Series X settings will also be available to users.

New Settings:

Frame Rate Target: You can now choose between **30, 40, 60, or Unlimited** frame rates on VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) supported monitors. If you don’t have a VRR supported 120hz monitor, you can choose between 30 and 60 frame rates. Choosing 60 on a non-VRR monitor may cause screen tearing.
Prioritization: While maintaining your frame rate target, you can set your desired priority between **Visual and Performance**. If you are targeting a frame rate of 60 or higher, it is recommended to choose the Performance option. When prioritizing image quality, you can keep effects, lighting, and crowd details at the highest resolution. When prioritizing performance, the internal resolution of effects, lighting, and crowd details will be reduced.
VSync (Vertical Synchronization): You now have the option to turn VSync on or off. Turning this setting off can lead to screen tearing by separating game frames from the monitor’s refresh rate. When on, the frame rate is synchronized with the monitor’s refresh rate to prevent tearing, but this may limit the frame count.

Shattered Space Release Date Announced

Bethesda Game Studios has officially announced the release date for Shattered Space as September 30, 2024. Players will explore the city of Dazra on the secret home planet of House Va’Ruun. In this new adventure, players will investigate a chilling cosmic threat, explore the home planet of House Va’Ruun, and find unique weapons, space suits, and equipment.

Players who own the Premium or Constellation Edition of Starfield can obtain Shattered Space as part of their purchases. Players with the base version can also purchase the Premium Upgrade to gain access to Shattered Space along with other digital items such as the Digital Art Book, Original Game Soundtrack, 1,000 Creation Credits, and the Constellation Appearance Pack.
