Windows 11 is celebrating its third anniversary! During this special period, support for the first version of Windows 11, 21H2, and the first feature update, 22H2, is coming to an end. Microsoft reminded users that there are only 90 days of support left for the 21H2 and 22H2 versions. The 21H2 version of Windows 11 is no longer supported for regular consumers, but update support continues for Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise versions. In the 22H2 version, Home and Pro editions will stop receiving updates. According to Microsoft’s statement:

“Starting from October 8, 2024, Windows 11, version 21H2, and Windows 11, version 22H2 will no longer receive updates. After this date, devices running these versions will not receive updates containing protection against the latest security threats.”

Personal Computers Will Be Automatically Updated

The end of support for Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 versions means that devices with unmanaged configurations will be automatically upgraded to version 23H2 to stay up to date. If you do not have a “corporate administrator,” Microsoft will automatically update your operating system. Microsoft’s statement on this matter is as follows:

“When the service end for Windows 11 business devices not managed by IT departments approaches, Windows Update will automatically initiate an update.”

Windows 11 version 23H2 is currently the latest supported version, and the end of support date is set for November 11, 2025. Technically, Windows 11 version 24H2, which is available on Copilot+ PCs, has not yet been added to the official Windows Lifecycle documents.
